The MotoGP (motorcycle grand prix) project

250cc two-stroke MotoGP racebike project (at time of purchase)
These pics were taken right before I bought it...it was still pretty dirty.
Lower fairing is just propped up for the photo.

Not a production bike by any means, faster than most street legal 1000cc bikes, weighs 250 lbs. (wet)
These things go nearly 200 mph, and are geared very high. ( to the moon )
You couldnt even buy one of these when they were current, they were leased to MotoGP race teams only.
I researched the acquisition costs of leasing one back then...$30,000 to $50,000 depending on the spare parts package.
And this isnt the purchase cost, only the cost of "leasing" it for one season.
Im trying to locate the MotoGP rider who originally raced this in Motorcycle Grand Prix racing.
Im suspecting it might be either Ben Spies or Collin Edwards old GP bike from the late 90's

As you can see, its one trick machine. The fuel tank is made of aluminum and weighs only a pound. (dry)
Suspension appears to have very little time on it, and many components look new.
I will remove the engine for inspection and rebuild this winter.

It was missing a few parts, like fairing braces and wind screen, but otherwise it is all here.
I plan on checking the motor for crank and cylinder wear, replacing anything out of spec...
and then racing it at a local Texas road racing course when I can afford it.
Of course, Im going to race with the slow guys.(novice or intermediate class) Im no pro MotoGP racer yet.
I raced years ago, and I cant think of anything more exciting...except maybe piloting a helicopter.
There are no plans on selling it when its complete. its quite a rare race bike.
I might finally live my fantasy of racing MotoGP after all !

Its thin compared to my bigger, fatter street bikes. It feels light as a motocross bike when sitting on it.

This is the same type and year model of bike, in full race trim, of course.

MotoGP pics ... just for reference...

Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo...duking it out at Laguna Seca

Piloting a helicopter.
I could possibly be the most talented low-hour helicopter Noob ever.

The Record snowfall this winter provided some rare opportunities for fun...
SnowBooty?
SnowLady lives on
And, so does SnowCat !

SnowCat is actually in the parking lot of the Animal Hospital nearby...looking at the building, waiting to be fed....
SnowCat, two days later....
Little SnowCat,
